Remhoogte Wine Estate is situated 4 km outside the town of Stellenbosch on the hills below the Simonsberg Mountain. The 55 hectare farm has title deeds dating back to 1812 and derives its Dutch name from the days of the ox wagons when brakes needed to be applied to the wheels before descending the steep hill down into Stellenbosch. The name typifies the Dutch heritage and is uniquely South African.
The farm offers the visitor the chance of tasting the wines that are grown and produced on the estate. There are magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and vineyards and a 6 hectare game area with zebra, springbok and wildebeest.

Remhoogte Aigle Noir 2008 Layers of plums, cherries, cinnamon and mint on the nose. Rich berried fruit carries through onto the palate with a clean spiciness adding to the body and complexity of this elegant wine. Silky but firm tannins and a finish that lingers.

Remhoogte Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 In this classic Cabernet Sauvignon aromas of fynbos and cassis follow through from the nose onto the palate and are accented by enticing undertones of dark berries and chocolate.

Remhoogte Merlot 2008 Remhoogte is known for producing superb Merlot and the 2008 vintage is no exception. It is absolutely decadent. Aromas of cherries, black current and fresh mint are backed up by dark chocolate which lasts through to the finish.
